stop renting hot water
Solar hot water is a great way to reduce your monthly energy costs. The average 50 gallon water heater costs a homeowner $45-55 a month in energy costs. This cost is easily offset by the use of a roof mounted solar water heater. A closed loop solar water heater can supply a household with over 100 gallons of hot water daily for pennies. Take control of your hot water costs with solar water heating, stop renting hot water, own your hot water production with solar.
How Do they work?
Solar water heaters have grown leaps in bounds since the 80s and while the technology is top of the line, closed loop solar water heaters function very simply. The main component of the solar water heater is the roof top panel made of aluminum and white water glass. The panel is mounted securely to the roof to collect heat from the sun and roof. Recent improvements in technology allow these panels to reach temperatures of over 140 degrees in winter months and excess of 160 degrees in the summer. The solar water system is complete with an 80 gallon solar water tank and a high efficiency stainless steel pump. The high efficiency pump is used to pump a heat exchange fluid up to the rooftop panel to be super heated. This heat exchange fluid is then pumped back down to the solar tank where it is used to heat the potable water in the tank. This process continues throughout the day heating your household water for pennies instead of dollars.
how long will they last?
Today’s solar water heaters are incredibly robust. The closed loop design allows the water heaters to last 15-20+ years with proper maintenance. Because the systems are closed loop, meaning that no potable water is ever directly in contact with the pump or panels, the systems stay clean of mineral deposits and total dissolved solids found in our tap water. Additionally, the 80 gallon storage tanks are top of the line double walled tanks capable of lasting over 20 years. Finally the roof top panels carry a 30 year warranty against leaks and absorber plate failure. A combination of these improvements make solar water heating an excellent long term investment.
